In this paper we will discuss mental illness and its relationship, if any, to spirit attachment. As well as other spiritual problems, such as possession, psychic attack and other highly negative forces.
There is no suggestion in this paper that every case where there are spiritual problems, the client is mentally ill. Nor that mentally ill clients, always have a spiritual problem. I tend to have clients who have, or claim to have, severe spiritual problems such as attachment, possession, highly negative energies or indeed demonic influences. These groups include cults, clients who have been cursed and those with highly damaging religious beliefs. These are similar across all religions. It is not just in christianity that we find satanic warship, , etc. All religions have a dark and negative side in their beliefs, cultures and doctrines.
In my experience, mental illness and spiritual problems are, in many cases, closely related. One might ask: - What came first? - The chicken or the egg? -This is especially so in the most difficult and problematic cases, like clients who have been in psychiatric care, often several times. Clients, who are convinced that they are possessed, cursed and appear to be under constant attack from negative energies or entities, often of the most powerful type.
I sometimes ask the client if they experienced the spiritual problems before or after the psychiatric problems. Approximately half of my clients say yes and half of them say no. When clients bring up their problem with their family or doctor they are told something like: - It is all in your mind. It is all in your imagination. You are mentally ill. -
I do believe that either psychiatric problems or negative spiritual problems can attract each other. Indeed one could say that they might even cause each other. A major problem for the client can be that the medical profession tends to reject the concept of spiritual entities being the issue and labels these patients as mentally ill.
